Michael Fortin

Tap and Pom Instructor

Tap with Mr Michael

My Story

I have been dancing for 10 years and choreographing for 5 years while working in both the competitive and performance world of dance. My expertise is in tap, contemporary, jazz, and technique training such as leaps & turns. Throughout my dance career, I have had the opportunity to train in a variety of styles including tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, ballet, ballroom, and pom. Along with my extensive training, I have had the privilege to be a part of many studios in Maine that have given me the opportunity to work with companies such as the Bossov Ballet Theatre under the direction of Natalya Getman and compete with the University of New England Cheer Team with Coach Allison Bromski. Along with my training, I have been recognized both regionally and nationally in the competitive world of dance for my work with dancers and choreography.

I have a bachelors degree in Applied Science that allows me to have a deep understanding of human anatomy and injury prevention. While teaching, I strive to create a comfortable environment for all dancers where they are able to train in a safe and accepting environment. I find it important that dancers get a proper dance education by addressing nutritional and mental challenges within the world of dance. Most of my time out for the studio is spent educating and staying up to date with current dance techniques and styles, so that I can provide the best education to dancers of all ages. Beyond dance, I enjoy spending time by the ocean and traveling round New England sharing my love of dance with others.
